Hour Long Musical about African-croatian Meeting

On May 17 th, 2007, our school celebrated its fifth birthday with a volleyball tournament between the teachers and students. This was followed by the presentation of our school musical which encompassed singing, dancing and drama by the older and younger pupils alike. This process reqiures a lot of work, but the rewards are well worth it! It was a great succes!

The volleyball match was very tense since the teams were equally matched. They spectators enjoyed supporting their team team with cheers. In the end, the teachers won, but only by a few points! The volleyball tournament is already a yearly tradition at our school.
The team of hour long musical this year was Africa. At Christmas we saw how little Mary saw Africa through a dream. She saw how african children live a complemently different life than ours, and one african childe came to her home as a guest; an exchange student! The child, Babatunde (an authentical male African male) was her age and was from Côte d'Ivoire (the Ivory Coast), and came to visit Croatia. With Marija he went through both good and bad experiences at school: from being laughed at by his peers, to successes in sport, to final acceptance and a desire to stay. The musical showed us two typical days at school: children playing games, watching presentations, singing and dancing. This musical also included the audience in an interesting way. With this we would like to say: ''Happy birthday, school!“

At the morning's volleyball match.

An angel descendes from the audience with a song to Babatunde and Marija after their prayers because of the problems of ridicule at school.

The actors behind the stage

Our successes at varrious competitions were announced at the concert.

Traditional dances from Prigorje (where our school belongs to) and Africa: "I had a snail as a husband" and "Bagagine", a song in the Susu-language, the language of the Soso people of Guinea.
