Sopnica's Igloo

In this season of snow, Sopnica has taken on an unusual look because snow, due to global warming, has become a rarity. Today we were fascinated by the whiteness, snow on the pine trees, on the roof tops, narrow partways on the side walks from which white walls rise... In our part of the world a rariety has blossomed.

A few of our pupils, from the Vukeliæ family, have become igloo architects. Here is a report from one of them:

Ideas: Luka Vukeliæ
Builders: Luka Vukeliæ, Marino Vukeliæ, Matej Vukeliæ and assistant Capko

In the beginning we saw a big pile of snow in our yard and thought that we should put it to use. We didn't think we could dig a tunnel underneath that pile, but we did!

We worked on the igloo for 2-3 long hours.

We used our hands, shovels and lot of good will and effort.

After the first hour of work, we went home for a break and to warm up.

We came out again and continued tunneling.

After 45 minutes, we began to dig deeper and deeper.

It started to get dark. Inside the igloo it was very dark so we used a candle and a small torch so we could see where we were digging. Our cat Capko was outside and ran around our igloo.

Finaly, we were finished. We lit a candle and enjoyed cleaning the snow off the sidewalk. And that was that!
