What is Erasmus+?

The Erasmus+ program is aimed at life-long learning and is funded by the European Union. There was a decision this year to join a variety of programs together. Programs such as: Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Grundtvig, Young works, and various sports programs have all been unified under the Erasmus+ umbrella. The program is named after Erasmus of Rotterdam (1467.-1536.), an author, philosopher, philologist and humanitarian from Netherlands.

Our school organises internships for students.

In 2020/21 we have the following interns:

Lizaveta Shabalina is studying environmental science at Pomeranian Academy in Słupsk (Poland).

Marija Tofilovska (Марија Тофиловска) is studying international communications at South East European University in Tetovo (North Macedonia).

In 2019/20 we have following interns:

Ana García Gonzalez is studying as a nursery school teacher, English teacher and primary teacher at the Toledo university (Spain).

In 2018/19:

Janja Stariha is studying English and German Language at the Maribor University in Slovenia.

Elena Martinez García is studying to be a Geography teacher at a University in Granada. 

Aleksandar Nikolaev Nikolaev (Александар Николаев Николаев) is studying psychology at the University of Saint Cyril and Methodius in Veliko Trnovo.

In 2017/18 we had the following interns:

Nedko Milčev Georgiev (Недко Милчев Георгиев), Leman Nuridin Sali (Леман Нуридин Сали) and Slavena Kostadinova Petrova (Славена Костадинова Петрова) are studying journalism at the University in Veliko Trnovo in Bulgaria. Rajka Apostolova Georgieva (Рајка Апостолова Георгиева) is studying Russian while Dimitar Dančev Dimitrov (Димитар Данчев Димитров) is studying psychology at the same university in Bulgaria.

Dawid Wach is studying the phylosophy of the English Language at the University ,,Jan Kochanowski" in the Polish city of Kielce.

Silvia Slavova Koevska (Силвиа Славова Коевска) has graduated from the University in Veliko Trnovo in the field of Russian and Greek Languages. She grew up in Russia (in the Republic of Komi), and is currently living in Netherlands in the city of,,Philips" in Eindhoven.

Daniel Konstantinov Marinov (Даниел Константинов Маринов) is studying English Linguistics at the University of Saint Cyril and Methodius in Veliko Trnovo.

Daniel del Moral Justicia is studying to be a Geography teacher at a University in Granada. The Universtiy, which is located in a historical town, was opened in 1531 and currently has 80 000 students.

Irina Nikolaeva Ilieva (Ирина Николаева Илиева) and Hristina Serafimova Vladimirova (Христина Серафимова Владимирова) are studyiing journalism at the University of Saint Cyril and Methodius in Veliko Trnovo. Plamen Borislavov Gatev (Пламен Бориславов Гатев) is studying Greek Linguistics as well as English, Serbian and Croatian Languages.

In 2016/17 we had the following interns:

Elena Milla Utrilla studies translation and interpretation at the University of Valladolid, which is the capital of the Spanish province Castile and León. This university was founded in the late 13th century and now has more than 30 000 students. By the 15th century, Valladolid was the residence of the king of Castile. In 1469, Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand of Aragon were married in the city. This merging of  the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon was the begining of  present day Spain. The famous explorer Christopher Columbus died in the city of Valladolid while Elena Milla Utrilla still lives in Zaragoza, the capital of the Spanish province Aragon.

Presijan Plamenov Konakčiev (Пресиян Пламенов Конакчиев) teaches history and geography at an elementary school in the Bulgarian city of Veliko Trnovo.  He is doing his doctorate  thesis on the Croatian parliament in 1918.

Mariela Stojanova Semova (Мариела Стоянова Семова) has graduated as a teacher of History and German at the University of Veliko Trnovo. This city was the capital of Bulgaria during the period  1185 - 1393.

Jesus Roberto Rito Gomez  graduated from construction at the University of Oaxaca in Mexico.

Stella Veranudi (Στέλλα Βερανούδη) studies Film Art at the biggest university in Greece – the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki.

Adriana Valerieva Rangelova (Адриана Валериева Рангелова) has graduated Psychology at the University Sofia "St. Kliment Ohridski". The university was founded shortly after  Bulgarian independence in 1888 and now has 24 000 students. Saint Clement of Ohrid (ca. 840 – 916) was a medieval Bulgarian saint, scholar, writer and enlightener of the Slavs.  He was one of the most prominent disciples of Saints Cyril and Methodius and is often associated with the creation of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts, and especially their popularisation among Christianised Slavs. He was the founder of the Ohrid Literary School and is regarded as a patron of education and language by some Slavic people. He is thought to be the first bishop of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, one of the seven Apostles of the Bulgarian Empire (Bulgaria), and the patron saint of the Republic of Macedonia, the city of Ohrid and the Macedonian Orthodox Church. Maria Bogusz studied History and her favourite historical period is the Late Medieval Ages, especially the 15th century. She graduated from the University of Warsaw. Her university was established in 1816 and some famous people like poet Czesław Miłosz, ex-president Bronisław Komorowski and reporter, journalist, traveller, photographer, poet and writer Ryszard Kapuściński graduated from it as well. Nowadays the university has 44 600 students and is the largest in Poland.

Irene Picallo Doce has graduated in Journalism, focusing on human rights and with a special interest in migrants and ethnic communities. She finished her studies in Barcelona, but her Alma Mater is Santiago de Compostela University, which has the highest rate of female students among public universities in Spain.

Lihua Zhou (周丽华) studies European studies at the University of Wrocław in Poland. This university was established 1702 and has arround 25 000 students. Her birth place in city of Hanzhou in China, great city with rich history.

Konstantinos Paganis (Κωνσταντινοσ Παγανισ) studies history of art at the University of Athens.


In 2015/16 we had the following interns:

Noora Harkio studies Swedish, French and English languages at the University in Turku. This university is the second largest in Finland according to the number of attending students (about 21 000). The city of Turku was Finland's capital when Finland was still part of Sweden. The only university in Finland that uses Swedish as its main language is located in Turku.

Georgi Tsanev Tsachev (Георги Цанев Цачев) studies history through the graduate studies at the University of Saint Cyril and Methodius in Veliko Trnovo. This town was the capital city of Bulgaria in the Middle Ages. Today it is the second largest university in the country with aproximately 18 000 students.

Tereza Klímová is studying to become a Czech Language teacher and a Civics Education teacher at the University of the city of Hradec Králové. This university was founded in 1964 as a teacher's university and was renamed in 2000 in order to commemorate Hradec Králové. About 8500 students are enrolled there.

Julia Moreno Bodelón has just graduated as a nursery school teacher at the University of Santiago de Composetela. This university was founded in 1495 and has over 25 000 students. The city Santiago (which translates as St. James) de Compostela is located in Galicia and is a well known place for religious pilgrimage. In the Middle Ages, pilgrims used to travel on foot from Germany, France, England, Poland and other countries.

Agnieszka Wachnik is currently studying to be a teacher of Polish as a Second Language at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. This well known university in Kraków (the former Polish capital and one of the oldiest cities in Poland) was established in 1364. Some famous people like astrnomer Nicolaus Copernicus, King John III Sobieski, author Ivo Andrić, priest Karol Wojtyła (later Pope John Paul II) had all attended this famous university. For centuries it was one of the most important focal points of knowledge not only in Europe but world wide. It was named after the Polish Jagiellonian dynasty which is from the  XVI century.  It is the oldest university in Poland.

Antoniοs Boubas (Αντώνιος Μπούμπας) studies mathematics at the University of Crete. This greek island is the core of european civilisation.

Līna Birže studies translation and interpreting in the University College of Economics and Culture and she will graduate this summer. She lives and studies in Riga which is the capital city of Latvia and the largest city of the Baltic States. Riga is often referred to as the pearl of Baltic`s due to its dynamic culture life and exquisite architecture.

Ilaria Moretti, Silvia Mannino i Chiara Spatafora study political sciences, a Ettore Bellavia communication at University of Bologna.

In 2014/15 we had the following interns:

Costanza Tonti is currently studying Spanish, English and Russian at the University in Macerata, Italy.  She also speaks Rumanian very well. The university she attends is one of the oldest  in the world, founded in 1290.

Dimitrios Xylouris (Δημητριος Ξυλουρης) studies on the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering at the University of Crete. The University of Crete is a multi-disciplinary, research- oriented institution, located in the cities of Rethymno and Heraklion, in the island of Crete in Greece.

Javier González Moreno is studying spanish language at the university of Leon in Spain.

Ana Salvago finished study of tourism and is now studying social and cultural anthropology at the University of Seville in Spain.

Francisco Corpas Borrego, Carmen Aguilera Delis, Maria Cosano Galvez, Ana Conti Rojas and  Belén Delgado Valenzuela are studying to become primary teachers at the University of Córdoba‎ in Spain. The University of Córdoba‎ was established in 1972 and about 21 000 students attend the university.

Giulia Pratesi graduated from the famous University of Bologna in Italy. It is the oldest university in Europe which has continued to be in continuous operation. The University of Bologna was founded in 1088. Since 2013 it carries the Latin name Alma Mater Studiorum (which means - the nourishing mother of studies). Miss Pratesi gradated in Psychology there.

Sandra Olivares González is currently studying English at the University of Extremadura in Spain. It was established in 1973 and about 24 000 students attend this university.

Maria-Aggeliki Mitsaki (Μαρια-Αγγελικη Μητσακη) studies Theology at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece. It was named after the philosopher Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC) who was born near Thessaloniki. With over 95 000 students attending, this university is the largest in southeastern Europe. It was established in 1925 and is one of the most presteigous universities in Greece.

Our school and Comenius

Our school had applied for the position of a Comenius projects (a project to work with schools in other countries) a few times in the past, but had been unsuccessful.

A Comenius Assistant in Our School

In school year 2012-2013 our school was fortunate to receive a Comenius assistant, Simone König. Miss König comes to us from Hamburg, Germany and is a student teacher in the fields of Mathematics and Chemistry. She is conducting courses in the German Language and Culture. She is holding classes for students, parents, and teacher alike. She is participating in almost all subjects in our school, and is taking part in extra-curricular activities as well. Simone Konig is currently writing articles and translating our school web-site into German.

In school year 2013-2014 we have Thomas Hütten, geography and sports teacher from Bochum, Germany.
