Caceres and its History

Caceres is the capital of the province of Caceres, in Extremadura, Spain. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Romans found the city in 25 BC. Caceres is in Extremadura, in the South  West of Spain.

Then Caceres was under Visigothic power until the Arabs arrived in the 8th. Even during this time it had periods of Christian presence and the Jews also lived there. All of them gave new walls to the city, towers and palaces.

Caceres was reconquered by the Christians in 12th c. At that time many families migrated to America to look for a better future. The main families of the city and nobles built bigger palaces, churches and buildings with all this money. Most of the Old Town is from this period, so you can walk by its streets and feel like you are travelling back in time.

Nowadays Caceres is considered one of the most beautiful Spanish cities for those who visit it. It is true that is not very well known, but if you give it a chance you will enter in a city of magic, peace and history!
